Coaching for Health (Day 1)

This two half-day workshop will give you the opportunity to learn howcoaching can assist your clinical work. It will support you to enablepatients with chronic illnesses and/or lifestyle related health conditions tomake the real changes they will value. The workshop will be led by twoexperienced health coaching trainers, one of whom is also a clinician. 

The two half-day Coaching for Health course will cover: 
l An introduction to a coaching approach for behavioural changel Coaching skills for building openness, trust and willingnessl Frameworks for structuring brief health coaching interventionsl Setting effective goals with patients that encourage self-carel Patient-centred care planning techniquesl Working with barriers and resistance to change (cognitive,emotional, behavioural)l The principles and skills of effective challenging, withoutbreaking rapportl When and how to use coaching in different settings and in limitedconsultation times. 

This is a 2 x half-day course. Timing is 09.30 – 13.00 for both sessions.There is no charge for these courses.

What is Coaching for Health?
A coaching approach enables healthcare professionals toempower their patients to take ownership of their health goalsand, by working together, develop the commitment to achievingthem. Studies have shown that this collaborative approachincreases the likelihood of positive behavioural and lifestylechanges, producing more effective patient self-management,particularly in long-term conditions.

Doctorsl Nursesl Physiotherapistsl Pharmacistsl Healthcare Assistantsl Allied Health Professionalsl others in supervisory or advisory roles

This course has been run for over a 1,500 healthcare professionalsover the last seven years. Three months after the training, well over50% of those evaluated indicated that they were regularly using theskills with patients, and under 1% stated that they never used them.97% indicated they would recommend the course to a colleague.
