Course Description:
Camden, Haringey and Islington CEPNs have commissioned Managing Suicidal Conversations trainingfrom the Samaritans. This training course provides participants with skills and confidence torecognise and engage with a potentially suicidal person to help prevent the immediate risk of suicideand to signpost them to support.This course is designed to support all Primary, Community and Social Care staff whose role bringsthem into direct contract with people who have suicidal feelings, including those working in;General Practice, Care Homes, Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations, Local Authority,Community Pharmacy, Dentistry, Optometry. It is free training and a day in length.
Course objectivesShow that you have listened, heard and understood.Understand and acknowledge suicidal thoughts and feelings.Understand how talking about suicidal thoughts and feelings can be beneficial.Recognise signs of distress and suicidal thoughts.Approach someone who is feeling suicidal.Support or refer someone who is feeling suicidal.
