Understanding and awareness of the principles of The Mental Capacity Act 2005 is an essential requirement for all staff involved in the care, treatment and support of people over the age of 16 years who may lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves.
The Act was enacted to ensure that the capacity of adults is assessed consistently by all professionals. Its approach provides an appropriate platform for determining capacity regardless of your professional role. The Act establishes a statutory framework for determining a person’s capacity and introduces a checklist of factors that needs to be considered when determining if care and treatment is in a person’s best interests.
This is a one-day FREE training course, split into an introductory session in the morning, followed by a simulation training in the afternoon.
